k I D S

This issue was inspired by Larry Clark’s 1995 film, Kids. The film features New York City teens from the ‘90s; the wild, taboo, and loud times they enjoyed on a daily basis. It has always been one of my favorite films, considering my friends and I hang out in the same places as them. This film also represents true street culture from the ‘90s, from oversized shirts and short skirts, to supreme box logos, and door knocker earrings. This is what inspired me to collect a bunch of authentic NYC teens and give a modern (and less dramatic) portrayal of the new generation of Kids. I posted a casting call on Instagram with the goal of finding "teenagers with a true individual style". Here are the beautiful kids that showed up. Just like the movie, I took my camera out and followed these kids throughout the city. The rest is history.

Furthermore, this magazine focuses on young millennial activists ranging from Siena Rafter, a beautiful young woman with a passion for justice, to the cast of Primer For A Failed Superpower, a group of teenagers that are changing the world. I felt it was important to highlight those young minds who might be left out of the history books, as they fight to change the unjust society that we are forced to live in.

Recently I've been playing around with photography and formatting, so I really hope you appreciate this improved, brand new issue of Ice Vice Magazine.
